The Road Ahead
Written by John Galantini
Here she comes once again With her pleading hands Telling me that she's got nowhere to turn Though the writing's on the wall And I've heard it all before Still I'm guarenteed to fall for her delusion
It began one wet night under neon light She was late, so I waited in the rain She had no concept of time I should have seen the warning signs And they tell you love is blind But don't I know it
We were ships in the night Now we're shipwrecks We were flames, roaring fire Now we're smoke Yeah the road ahead was long But then everything just came undone Now we've got nowhere left to run
From the start it was clear She was insincere Immature and incapable of changing And she brings you to her knees Covets everything she sees Nothing's ever good enough to please her
We were ships in the night Now we're shipwrecks We were flames, roaring fire Now we're smoke Yeah the road ahead was long But then everything just came undone Now we've got nowhere left to run
We'll never get to Heaven Baby We'll never stand a chance Not even Jesus woud forgive us for our stance For all of the hateful spiteful things we said and did For all of the times I let her get away with it
We were ships in the night Now we're shipwrecks We were flames, roaring fire Now we're smoke Yeah the road ahead was long We could have drove into the setting sun Now we've got nowhere left to run
